the three paths

HARI  OM

Practical  steps  to  spirituality-  section  4  part  91

Shrimad   Bhagawad   Gita  -  part  107

Chapter  8

Lord  Krishna  talks  about  two  paths : one  is  the  path  of  liberation   called  krama  mukti  , wherein  the  seeker  has  lived  a  life  of  rituals  and  worship   and  so  he  goes  to  Brahma  loka  from  where  he  gets  liberated. . The  second  is  the  path  of  return  . So  the  seeker  goes  to  heaven  and  goes  through  heavenly  enjoyments  and  after  his  punya,  the  results of  his  meritorious  deeds,  gets  over,  he  is  pushed   back  to   the  world  of  sorrow and  pain.  , so  this  is  the  path  of  samsara. . These  two  paths  may  also  mean   not  only  the  two  impulses  of   the   sacred  and  secular   but   the  seekers  of  spirituality  and  materialism  . . So  a  yogi  who  knows  these  paths   does not  get  deluded  any  more.  and  will  not  fall  for  sense  gratification. . Therefore  Krishna  asks  Arjuna  to  ever  remain  a  yogi.

This  chapter  is  a  reminder  to  all  seekers  of  Truth   to  ever  remain  in  the  awareness  of  one's  Divine  nature  , even  while  performing  actions  in  this  world. . The  Lord  adds  that  whatever  meritorious  results   are  promised  in  the  scriptures   that  come  from  the  study  of  the  Vedas,  the  performance  of  yajnas,  ,practice  of  austerities   and  selfless  charity   come  to  the  yogi  , a  sincere  meditator   who  gains  all  the  above  benefits  because  his  personality  gets  integrated  easily  and  quickly  in  meditation   . So  this  helps  the  meditator  gain  the  needed  discriminative  thinking  and  dispassion  . Thus  a  meditator   who  has  through  meditation  gained   the  results  of  selfless  karma   and  continues  his  practices   until  at  last  comes  to  realize   the  Imperishable  Purusha  .   he  attains  My  highest  state   and  there  is  no  return  for  him.  says  the  Lord.  . And  this  is  the  third  path . of  being  liberated  even  while  living ,  jivan  mukti  and  after  he  sheds  his  body  , he  attains  videha  mukti.

Thus  ends  the  eighth  chapter  titled   the  Yoga  of  Imperishable  Brahman  . The  term  yoga  here  has  to  be  understood   as  the  way  to  this  Imperishable  Brahman. . So  the  Lord  has  explained  in  this  chapter  how   those  who  remember  the  Infinite  at  the  time  of  their  death   will  reach  the  Infinite   and  so  He  asks  Arjuna  to  remember  the  Infinite   at  all  times. . The  Lord  has  also  explained  the  nature  of  the  Infinite   upon  which  one  is  to  fix  his  mind  in  meditation. . Then  he  explained  the  two  paths  of  light  and  darkness. , the  former  leading  to  liberation  and  the  latter  to   a  life  of  pain  and  suffering    which  is    samsara.

to  be  continued......

The meaning of the word deekshai is initiation. When a human does become a real
human being? If one gets father and mother is not human being!

Only when he gets guru he is human! With human body, he obtains maturity in the mind, becomes a real human only after getting a gnana guru.
