Jiva, jagat and Isvara .-part 6

HARIH  OM
The  jivatma  by  self-enquiry  .has  understood  his  oneness  with  the  Paramatma. and  claims  'aham  brahma  asmi.' . His  journey  is  still  not  over .  For  him,  it  is  clear  that  he  is  not  just  the  enclosed  jivatma  ,  but  that  he  is  one  with  the  all  pervading  Consciousness. .  In  this  spiritual  journey  of  travelling  from  ahankara  bhava  to  jivatma  bhava  to  Paramatma  bhava  , actually  there  is  no  question  of  travelling  involved  ,  because  Paramatma  being  all  pervading  cannot  travel  anywhere.   It  is  a  question  of  intellectual  understanding  that  he  is  not  just  a  jivatma  but  one  with  Paramatma  ,  the  Consciousness  Principle. It  is  shedding  his  ahankara  bhava  and  jivatma  bhava  with  all  their  limitations  and  realise  that  he  is  none  other  than  the  Paramatma.

The  Consciousness  is  pervading  all  through  the  jivatma's  body. . This  is  called  samanya  chaitanyam  or  general  consciousness . . But  when  the  jivatma  is  listening  to  a  vedantic  lecture  ,  he  is  operating  through  one  of  his  sense  organs. ,  it  is  called  vishesha  chaitanyam .  During  deep  sleep  state,  this  vishesha  chaitanyam  withdraws  itself  from  the  entire  body  ,  only  the  samanya  chaitanyam  is  present  ,due  to  which  alone  ,upon  waking  up  he  says  'I  slept  well. '. The  '  I'  am  the  sakshi  chaitanyam  ,the  witness  of  the  avasta  trayam  .  This  sakshi  chaitanyam  is  called  Atma. . Vedanta  says  ,the  jivatma  may  abide as  the  Atma  and  claim  his  freedom  as  an  ever  liberated  person  ,  a  mukta  purusha.
